Coles' official closure guidance specifies a replacement process for gift cards held in the wallet, distinct from the shutdown of the payment service itself. Cards carrying at least AUD5 at closure were to be cancelled and replaced with eGift cards of the same or a similar type. The guidance says replacement emails would be sent automatically from giftcards.com.au to each user's Coles Pay email address by September 25\. It does not confirm that every email was delivered. Balances below AUD5 are excluded from reissue. Those customers retain the original gift card as the route for using the remaining value. The closure therefore changes the channel through which affected customers access gift-card value, without establishing a loss of every wallet balance or the cancellation of the retailer's wider gift-card programme. September 11 is the completed operational closure date stated by Coles. The guidance's first publication date is not disclosed.
