The announcement identified [SELP Digital](https://giftcard.news/company/selp-digital/), its subsidiary, as a provider of end-to-end gift card solutions. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) Founded in 1956, SELP works across payment and identity systems. The association described the group as operating in more than 65 countries at the time of the announcement. That figure refers to the wider business, not to a disclosed number of markets served by its gift card platform. SELP sets out several uses: corporate gifting, targeted retailer promotions and customer-service compensation. That gives the membership a direct connection to both gift card distribution and the operating systems behind it. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) For a retailer evaluating such a supplier, the practical question is how these stages connect. Producing a card, delivering its digital equivalent and maintaining the value recorded against it are different responsibilities. An implementation brief needs to identify which organisation handles each stage and how a customer resolves a failed delivery or redemption. ## What the announcement establishes The January notice confirms association membership. It does not announce a new customer contract, a product launch, transaction volumes or audited performance results. The significance is industry participation by an established card supplier and its digital subsidiary, rather than evidence of a new deployment.
