The addition covers Canadian-dollar programmes and five cause categories. It does not establish that every employee prefers an environmental gift, or that a specified environmental result has already followed from the Canadian launch. ## Two platforms between the employer and the project Giftbit supplies a web platform and API through which organisations send digital rewards. Its published revenue model includes margin-sharing with card partners and, for promotional rewards with claim deadlines, a share of unclaimed value. The company does not publish the specific commercial split for Dots.eco. [\[S04\]](#article-source-4) Dots.eco describes itself as a for-profit environmental-services business, not a nonprofit. It works with project organisations and says its unit price combines the cost of environmental activity with a transaction-based service fee. That distinction matters when a reward is described informally as a donation: not every part of the payment is necessarily transferred to a charity. Giftbit provides access to the employer's reward workflow; Dots.eco supplies environmental reward options and project coordination; the selected field organisation performs the underlying activity. The commercial proposition is convenient access and administration, rather than the employer directly managing conservation work. ## What Canadian recipients can select The catalogue categories are shown below. Their names describe reward options and should not be read as verified outcomes attributable to a particular gift. Catalogue availability therefore differs from inclusion in a particular employer's campaign. An organisation can connect a reward to a chosen cause or give the recipient a range of choices. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) ## The commercial reason to add a different kind of reward Our reading is that Giftbit is competing for more of the employer's incentive budget by offering an option beyond personal consumption. A buyer seeking a sustainability-related campaign can use its existing sending and reporting workflow, rather than selecting a separate project arrangement. For Dots.eco, that is access to reward demand through a distribution partner. The employer's potential gain is a reward that fits its workforce and campaign purpose. But a sustainability theme does not establish better retention, participation or value for money. A recipient who prefers a conventional card may value the options differently. Choice and clear descriptions matter more than assuming a universal preference. ## The evidence still has to follow the money Dots.eco says it publishes financial reports and monitors partner projects. Those disclosures offer a route for examining its operating model, but they are distinct from independently measured results for rewards sent through this particular launch. [\[S05\]](#article-source-5) The announcements do not disclose Canadian redemption volumes, the share of each reward reaching a project or measured environmental outcomes from this channel. The confirmed business change is access to five environmental options through Giftbit.
