Sales stopped on many digital platforms, while physical and digital cards could remain at selected retailers until their existing inventory was exhausted. The change concerns eBay-issued gift cards; third-party gift card listings on the marketplace remain available. Existing eBay gift cards and their balances remain valid under the company’s terms. Refunds for cancelled or returned purchases paid for with a gift card continue to return to that card balance. The phase-out therefore affects the supply of new rewards without cancelling value already held by recipients. Giftbit distinguishes programmes committed to one brand from those offering recipients its broader catalogue.
