The photograph provides company context and does not depict the QUO Card Pay launch. Photo: Kinkohdo [QUO Card](https://giftcard.news/company/quo-card/) announced [Kinkohdo](https://giftcard.news/company/kinkohdo/)’s addition to its digital gift network on August 3, 2026\. The bookseller’s own announcement specifies that QUO Card Pay became usable at five named shops from August 1\. The merchant brings a bookseller rooted in Kochi into the digital redemption network. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) [\[S05\]](#article-source-5) Kinkohdo says it was founded in 1952 and operates six stores in Kochi Prefecture. Its August 1 acceptance notice specifically names the main shop, Asakura Book Center, Tosa-Yamada, Kochi University Medical School and Kochi University of Technology branches. The prefectural museum shop is in the wider directory but is not named in that notice; the chain footprint therefore remains distinct from the five explicitly announced accepting locations. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) [\[S05\]](#article-source-5) [\[S06\]](#article-source-6) ## A bookstore outlet for digitally delivered value The addition connects two different parts of a gift transaction. QUO Card Pay is delivered as a URL that a purchaser can share electronically, while the merchant addition gives the recipient somewhere to spend the balance in person. The issuer's product documentation describes delivery by email or social messaging after purchase. [\[S04\]](#article-source-4) That offers a practical route for someone sending value to a reader without selecting a particular title. The announcement does not establish a new book-specific gift card, a bookstore discount or a change to the value already held by recipients. Matching the five named shops to their published addresses places two in Kochi City, two in Kami City and one in Nankoku City. This locates the announced redemption options; it does not measure use of the service. [\[S05\]](#article-source-5) [\[S06\]](#article-source-6) The data behind the story ### Locations named in Kinkohdo’s QUO Card Pay announcement Five shops explicitly listed in the August 1, 2026 merchant notice, grouped using the directory addresses observed October 18. named accepting shops named accepting shops Tap or hover for details. All values are also available in the data table. Sources Kinkohdo August 1 acceptance notice; Kinkohdo shop directory Manual count of the five named retail locations only. Main shop and Asakura are in Kochi; Tosa-Yamada and the technology-university shop are in Kami; the medical-school shop is in Nankoku. Excludes the museum shop and external-sales centre. No transaction or chain-wide acceptance inference. Kinkohdo's website supports book searches and orders through the external e-hon service, with collection at named stores. QUO Card's merchant conditions say the digital gift cannot be used for payments on online shopping sites. Online ordering availability therefore does not establish online QUO Card Pay acceptance. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) QUO Card also warns that the digital gift and its physical QUO cards have different acceptance networks. Store and balance restrictions may apply, particularly where a shop is inside a shopping centre or a balance is limited to designated merchants. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) For the bookseller, joining the network makes eligible digital gift balances usable at its participating shops. For reward senders and recipients, the concrete change is an additional bookshop option. Neither party's reviewed material discloses merchant pricing, anticipated gift-card sales, transaction volumes or redemption results for the addition. ## In this article ### Companies * [Kinkohdo](https://giftcard.news/company/kinkohdo/) * [QUO Card](https://giftcard.news/company/quo-card/) ### Sources and documents * [\[S01\] August 3 original merchant addition notice](https://www.quocard.com/newsroom/info/20260803/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — QUO Card * [\[S02\] Kinkohdo acceptance listing and restrictions](https://www.quocard.com/individual/store/quopay/book/kinkohdo/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — QUO Card * [\[S03\] Bookseller history, store footprint and ordering context](https://www.kinkohdo.co.jp/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — Kinkohdo * [\[S04\] Digital gift delivery and purchasing model](https://www.quocard.com/individual/product/quopay/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — QUO Card * [\[S05\] Merchant’s August 1 acceptance announcement naming five shops](https://kinkohdo.co.jp/quo%E3%82%AB%E3%83%BC%E3%83%89pay%E3%81%8C%E3%81%94%E5%88%A9%E7%94%A8%E5%8F%AF%E8%83%BD%E3%81%AB%E3%81%AA%E3%82%8A%E3%81%BE%E3%81%97%E3%81%9F%E3%80%82/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — Kinkohdo * [\[S06\] Complete shop directory and addresses, observed October 18](https://kinkohdo.co.jp/store/?utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news) — Kinkohdo Share [ ](https://x.com/intent/post?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgiftcard.news%2Fgift-cards%2Fkinkohdo-bookshops-quo-card-pay-acceptance%2F%3Futm%5Fsource%3Dx%26utm%5Fmedium%3Dsocial&text=Kinkohdo+bookshops+join+the+QUO+Card+Pay+network&utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news "X") [ ](https://www.linkedin.com/sharing/share-offsite/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgiftcard.news%2Fgift-cards%2Fkinkohdo-bookshops-quo-card-pay-acceptance%2F%3Futm%5Fsource%3Dlinkedin%26utm%5Fmedium%3Dsocial&utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news "LinkedIn") [ ](https://wa.me/?text=Kinkohdo+bookshops+join+the+QUO+Card+Pay+network+https%3A%2F%2Fgiftcard.news%2Fgift-cards%2Fkinkohdo-bookshops-quo-card-pay-acceptance%2F%3Futm%5Fsource%3Dwhatsapp%26utm%5Fmedium%3Dsocial&utm%5Fsource=giftcard.news&utm%5Fcampaign=giftcard.news "WhatsApp") ![Portrait of Suzie Elis](https://giftcard.news/images/variants/v1/suzie-elis-editorial-portrait-w320.webp) About the author ## [Suzie Elis](https://giftcard.news/author/suzie-elis/) Journalist — Gift Cards & Digital Gifting Suzie Elis covers gift card products, digital gifting and distribution for Gift Card News.
