The rollout brought third-party gaming, streaming and entertainment gift cards into the supermarket's physical retail network. That connection between merchandising and checkout processing is central to a physical gift card programme. The announced implementation covered both sides of that process. For the retailer, the arrangement added a gifting category to an existing shopping trip. For the participating brands, it provided another route to customers through a supermarket estate. Neither opportunity on its own establishes incremental sales; the release did not publish transaction values, redemption rates or customer acquisition results.
