The sender supplies the value; the recipient decides where within On Me’s category-based range to allocate it. The company also made the option available in its business gifting portal. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) ## Moving the choice to the recipient The announcement describes a three-stage journey: send a funded gift, let the recipient choose a category, then spend through the digital card. Categories cited include dining, travel, technology and personal care. Gifts can arrive by email, text message or a sender-shared link, with notes and media added to the presentation. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) That changes the decision an employer or customer-rewards team has to make. Instead of choosing one category that may suit only part of a group, the buyer can leave that preference decision to each recipient. The funding decision still belongs to the sender. This is the practical distinction between Choice and the company’s existing category-specific gifts. It distinguishes the underlying money, which does not expire, from a card credential that may expire and be replaced. The agreement lists no activation, purchase, monthly maintenance or inactivity fee. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) Those details matter when comparing recipient choice products. A wider choice of category does not, by itself, establish acceptance at every merchant or turn the gift into cash. The company’s terms describe a curated merchant model and digital access requirements. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) ## A useful option for mixed groups For a reward buyer, the attraction is a common purchasing process with room for different preferences at redemption. The trade-off is that the recipient now completes an extra selection step. Clear delivery instructions and an understandable category menu therefore become part of the reward experience. On Me did not publish launch adoption, redemption or recipient-satisfaction figures.
