The service is aimed at businesses distributing rewards, incentives and other payments to people in the country. The company said customers could use the connection for both domestic and international payouts. Its announced Indian network included [Amazon](https://giftcard.news/company/amazon/), [Flipkart](https://giftcard.news/company/flipkart/), [Shoppers Stop](https://giftcard.news/company/shoppers-stop/) and Amazon Pay, combining retail spending options with a digital wallet choice. Runa described funding and foreign-exchange arrangements that allow customers to operate without holding Indian rupees themselves. It also said its service handles requirements associated with local payment regulation, taxation and data protection. These capabilities form part of the company’s account of the launch. [Aron Alexander](https://giftcard.news/person/aron-alexander/), Runa’s chief executive, linked the expansion to growing demand for digital payments and gift cards in India. [Mike Bowles](https://giftcard.news/person/mike-bowles/), senior director of operations at [Augeo Marketing](https://giftcard.news/company/augeo-marketing/), said Runa’s work on merchant connections and compliance preparation would support Augeo’s planned entry into the market.
