In a case account published on July 14, 2024, the company said the unnamed business had spent $2 million on [Starbucks](https://giftcard.news/company/starbucks/) and [Grubhub](https://giftcard.news/company/grubhub/) gift cards in 2023\. According to Whistle, recipients had used $880,000 when the client examined the program, leaving $1.12 million unredeemed at that point. Those figures describe redemption observed in the client account. An unused balance is not, by itself, evidence that a card has expired or that the buyer can reclaim it. Whistle used the gap between purchased and redeemed value to explain why the client reassessed distribution. The company said the client adopted its platform in 2024 and reported the cost reduction in the July article. The figure was a claim available during that year, rather than a result presented after the full 2024 calendar year had ended. Whistle described its alternative as using company-branded [Visa](https://giftcard.news/company/visa/) reward cards, recipient communications by text or email, and visibility into reward issuance and redemption. It said subsequent rewards could be added to the same card and unused program funds could be redeployed within its own arrangement. The provider also promoted a recipient process without an app download or another password. The case centered on how rewards were funded, distributed and used, rather than simply comparing incentive face values. The account did not identify the client or provide supporting transaction records.
