The companies announced the agreement on September 15, with plans to improve support for English- and French-speaking customers. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) Toronto-based Shopley supplies operational and customer-engagement software to retailers and hospitality businesses. Its product range extends beyond gifting into tools such as point-of-sale systems and digital signage. That broader merchant relationship is relevant: a gift-card programme can become another service sold to the same business, rather than a separate purchasing decision. The cross-selling opportunity is an editorial inference, not a reported sales result. [\[S04\]](#article-source-4) ## A route to market, as well as an integration Factor4 supplies the underlying infrastructure for physical and digital gift cards. Its RewardOS API supports connections to checkout systems and other sales channels, with functions covering programme setup, stored value, transaction processing and reporting. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) Those functions address a different commercial problem from recruiting and supporting merchants. An integration makes transactions possible; a local reseller can help turn that capability into a sale and an ongoing customer relationship. The distinction explains why a distribution agreement can matter even when the processing technology already exists. It does not establish how much either partner will earn. There is a documented history behind the pairing. Factor4 appointed [Steve Levely](https://giftcard.news/person/steve-levely/) as a strategic adviser in September 2025, expressly linking his role to growth, partnerships and greater Canadian market penetration. His subsequent position as Shopley chief executive brings that earlier relationship into this agreement. It does not prove that this particular agreement was planned when Levely first became an adviser. ## How the merchant offering earns its place Shopley markets its CheQpoint service around gift cards and loyalty together. Its current product page describes digital delivery, scheduled sending, balance checks, reloading and redemption in store or online. Loyalty can be organised around points, spending or visits. These are standing product descriptions, not evidence that each feature launched with the September agreement. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) The published commercial structure includes recurring per-location fees and setup charges, with a separate tier combining loyalty and gifting. That gives Shopley a software-subscription proposition alongside card functionality. The page does not establish what Factor4 receives from those charges. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) For a merchant, the potential attraction is administering prepaid value and repeat-customer incentives within a connected system. The business case still depends on implementation cost and actual customer use. Neither an integrated interface nor a loyalty feature, by itself, proves an increase in profitable repeat purchases. ## The agreement leaves its economics private The announcement describes Shopley as an exclusive reseller in Canada, but does not set out the contractual boundaries of that exclusivity, revenue sharing, sales commitments or a rollout timetable. It reports no merchant adoption or financial results from the partnership. The confirmed change is the reseller agreement; its commercial impact remains to be demonstrated.
