Austria's [PartyLite Handelsgesellschaft m.b.H.](https://giftcard.news/organization/partylite-handelsgesellschaft-m-b-h/) entered court-opened insolvency proceedings on September 25, with holders of issued vouchers among its creditors, according to a procedure report from creditor association [AKV EUROPA](https://giftcard.news/organization/akv-europa/). The Vienna Commercial Court case is numbered 2 S 136/26a. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1)

AKV says the vouchers leave numerous creditors affected, but provides neither a holder count nor a separate outstanding voucher balance. The approximately EUR703,000 disclosed in the report is the debtor's estimate of total liabilities across the business. It cannot be read as the amount owed on vouchers.

## Trading had already stopped

The Austrian company, registered as FN152113x, is a subsidiary of Switzerland's PartyLite Trading S.A. It sold candles, home fragrances and related accessories through independent sales partners and an online shop. The proceedings concern that Austrian legal entity. AKV attributes the company's difficulties to the debtor's account of its US owner's withdrawal from Europe and the resulting deterioration in supplies and financial support from the parent. The report also says an important IT supplier stopped providing services in August over unpaid bills, disrupting ordering and accounting. The online shop closed and operating activity ceased.

The September event is therefore the opening of the Austrian proceedings, rather than a newly announced August shutdown. An earlier AKV statement described the application before the court had opened the case; its subsequent report lists the September 25 opening explicitly. ## Voucher recovery remains uncertain

For voucher holders, the report identifies a claim against the merchant within the insolvency process. It does not announce redemption through another retailer, a replacement issuer, a cash-refund programme or a guaranteed recovery percentage.

AKV names Katharina Widhalm-Budak as administrator and says the company is not seeking a restructuring plan or continued trading. The intended process is realisation of the remaining assets. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1)

Those assets still require examination. The report describes bank funds and receivables, while the possible value of the customer base remains unclear and significant inventory or fixed assets are absent. It says inventory, valuation and the recoverability of claims must be checked before a reliable asset figure is available. That leaves the eventual return to creditors, including voucher holders, unresolved.
