Documentation would then define endpoints, data formats, authentication and error handling before developers mapped the business’s own fields to the provider’s interface. Credential security was a recurring theme. The guide discussed secure storage of API keys or tokens, appropriate authentication and maintaining compatibility as the provider updated its service. The article also explained idempotency keys as a way to recognize repeated payment instructions after a timeout or retry, avoiding a second transaction for the same request. For event notifications, it discussed signature verification and safe handling of duplicate webhooks. Ongoing administration included tracking response times, usage and error rates, alongside maintaining integration documentation. ADR presented these practices as requirements for operating a payment connection over time, rather than treating initial coding as the end of the project.
