The Australian fashion retailer had been managing separate [Shopify](https://giftcard.news/company/shopify/) and [Lightspeed](https://giftcard.news/company/lightspeed/) environments, requiring staff to move balances manually when customers wanted to change channels. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) ## Sales and returns in the same workflow The retailer synchronised Shopify with Lightspeed and used [Klaviyo](https://giftcard.news/company/klaviyo/) for gift-card email delivery. Staff could issue cards for in-store and online returns as well as ordinary gifting. Operations controller [Kelvin Janissen](https://giftcard.news/person/kelvin-janissen/) described relief at no longer having to explain that a card worked only online or only in a shop. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) The source described eight physical locations at the time of the case. It supplied no sales uplift, redemption total or measured reduction in handling time. Its evidence is a description of the workflow and customer testimony about usability. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) ## A refund is part of the customer journey too The distinction between a purchased gift and value issued after a return matters operationally. Both may appear as a card to the customer, but a retailer needs to retain the context of why the balance was created and which rules apply. Connecting sales channels reduces the need for customers to understand the retailer’s software boundaries. It also makes accuracy in issuance, partial redemption and balance reporting more important: a single view is valuable only if the underlying entries remain reliable. ALPHA60’s account illustrates that service problem clearly.
