Their announcement, datelined February 5, 2026, said the integration supports real-time programme management without additional hardware. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) That places the partnership at a practical junction in hospitality: a gift card may be purchased well before a meal, but redemption still has to work during a busy service. Combining the two systems makes stored value part of the restaurant's normal payment workflow. ## A restaurant software business gains another service Basil POS, powered by [Wholesale Payments](https://giftcard.news/company/wholesale-payments/), supplies tools for restaurant ordering, menus, tables and payments. Its product also includes reporting and kitchen printing. The company is therefore selling an operating environment around the transaction, with gift cards adding another function to that relationship. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) Its public FAQs show the wider commercial arrangement. Equipment is available on a monthly lease with warranty and support, and the system requires a reliable internet connection. Those are existing platform conditions, separate from the partners' claim that the gift card integration needs no additional hardware. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) For a merchant already using the POS, the attraction is less about acquiring another application than avoiding a second process at the counter. Staff can handle a branded programme within familiar software. That could reduce switching between tools, although the companies supplied no measurement of time saved. Factor4 supplies stored-value processing and related card services, with integrations into merchant software and payments businesses forming part of its distribution model. [\[S04\]](#article-source-4) ## Two routes to the same merchant The agreement serves different commercial purposes for the two suppliers. Factor4 gets access through a restaurant software relationship instead of having to persuade each operator to adopt a standalone gift card system. Basil can broaden what merchants do inside its product. This is also a decision about ownership of the daily workflow. Payments, menu changes and reporting make the POS a recurring operational dependency. Adding gift card sales and redemption gives a restaurant one more reason to keep using that environment, provided the service works reliably. Factor4 chief executive [Dan Battista](https://giftcard.news/person/dan-battista/) emphasized the reach of the partnership, while Basil director [Dakota Strawn](https://giftcard.news/person/dakota-strawn/) described programme management from the POS. The release did not disclose pricing, revenue-sharing arrangements or merchant adoption. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) ## Prepayment is different from additional demand For restaurants, card sales can bring cash in before food or service is supplied. They also create a future obligation to the cardholder. A successful programme therefore depends on redemption and repeat visits as well as initial sales; selling prepaid value alone does not show that the restaurant has won incremental spending. The integration addresses the mechanics of that cycle. Its commercial outcome will depend on merchant take-up, the charges attached to the service and whether recipients become returning customers.
