[Giftnote](https://giftcard.news/company/giftnote/) has rebuilt its [Shopify](https://giftcard.news/company/shopify/) gifting application with gift cards issued in the currency a customer paid in, alongside new controls for code delivery and liability reporting.

The company announced the overhaul on September 22 and said the listed capabilities were live inside Shopify's administration interface that day. The update brings gift-card management, gifting orders and campaign tools into that interface.

For merchants selling internationally, the card-currency change connects issuance to the customer's transaction currency and the store's Shopify Markets configuration. Giftnote presents this as a way to avoid currency mismatches, although the release does not quantify the number of merchants or transactions affected.

## Issuance, delivery and accounting form one merchant workflow

The current commercial terms distinguish a $19 monthly Core plan from a $99 Professional plan, called Pro on the app listing. Both support gift cards, while Multi Gift and API access require the higher tier. The free Gift Audit plan analyses orders but does not include sending gift messages, gift cards or Multi Gift. Giftnote says a card is sent only once its code has been confirmed valid. Card status remains synchronized with the Shopify order, with optional automatic fulfillment. These are changes to the issuance and delivery workflow, rather than a new acceptance network for redeeming the card.

Merchants can also edit a card's expiry, change its message, send it immediately or schedule later delivery from the card's own page. Search tools cover codes, email addresses, telephone numbers, names and order numbers, with saved filter views.

That combines two operational tasks: locating an issued card and correcting its delivery details after checkout. The company's description concerns available controls, not an independently established reduction in support work or failed deliveries.

Each card now retains a history, and the update includes a Liability Report export for accounting. Those records give merchants another way to reconcile issued gift value with outstanding obligations. The release does not specify an external accounting-system integration or report measured improvements in reconciliation accuracy.

Giftnote also says balance-checker lookups are rate-limited to make code enumeration harder. This is a disclosed security control; no attack data or independently verified fraud reduction accompanies the announcement.

The same release expands Multi Gift to as many as 1,000 recipients per CSV, applies taxes from Shopify settings and links campaign orders with a family-code tag. These campaign capabilities form part of the single September overhaul, rather than separate product launches.

The principal gift-card development spans issuance currency, delivery validation and the records retained after a card is created. Its practical results will depend on how merchants deploy the updated tools within their own stores.

Base subscription fees are only part of that decision. The provider includes 20 single-gift credits once per store, then charges $1 per gift message or gift card; that allowance does not reset each month. Multi Gift orders carry a separately stated 2% fee, which a merchant may pass on to its customer. Shopify bills the subscription and usage, and the merchant’s authorised spending limit can pause new messages when reached. These actual billing rules define operating cost, without proving that the new controls improve sales, support workload or fraud losses.
