The offer is intended for credit unions that use MAP to operate their cash machines. MAP contrasted recycling with an arrangement in which deposited cash remains in a separate storage compartment until collection. With recycling, the ATM checks deposited money for authenticity, sorts it and places suitable notes in the secure dispenser for later withdrawals. The approach lets a machine reuse cash deposited by one customer to meet another customer's withdrawal. MAP said this could extend the period between cash replenishment visits and reduce the cost and exposure associated with restocking an ATM. Chief Customer Officer [Joyce Carter](https://giftcard.news/person/joyce-carter/) presented efficiency, security and operating costs as reasons for credit unions to consider the function. These were the benefits anticipated by MAP; the announcement did not supply quantified savings or results from named installations. The company linked the service with a broader role for ATMs as extensions of credit union branches.
