Its pitch is to embed those functions in services customers already use. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) “Retailers, marketplaces, and telecom operators already have the customers,” founder [Pavlo Sidelov](https://giftcard.news/person/pavlo-sidelov/) said. The strategy starts with an existing audience instead of a new financial brand. [\[S01\]](#article-source-1) ## The company behind the software Founded in 2013, SDK.finance initially operated through a Czech legal entity. Since 2019 its operating company has been Lithuania’s TechFin UAB. Its software supplies reusable components for accounts, transactions and fees, with applications including digital wallets, merchant payment acceptance and banking products. It describes itself as a technology supplier and expressly says it is not a bank or payment institution. [\[S03\]](#article-source-3) The platform already lists closed-loop wallets, gift cards and loyalty among its uses. The expansion applies that existing infrastructure to a wider commercial audience. [\[S02\]](#article-source-2) ## Why a retailer would want to own the balance The retailer’s incentive is easiest to see in a refund. Money returned to an external payment account can be spent anywhere. A customer who chooses a balance usable with that retailer has a reason to return. A gift balance can bring another shopper into the same relationship. This is the commercial logic of restricted-use value, not evidence of a retention improvement delivered by SDK.finance.
