[Whop](https://giftcard.news/company/whop/) has included gift card acceptance in a roundup of payment processing research published on September 8, 2026\. The article brings together findings from several organisations, covering payment methods, merchant costs, checkout performance and fraud; it is not a single survey conducted by Whop.

For gift cards, Whop cites a 2026 [Chargebacks911](https://giftcard.news/company/chargebacks911/) report involving 250 merchants, in which 25.7% supported the payment method. In that same cited report, mobile wallets were supported by 55.2%, bank transfers by 44.1% and [PayPal](https://giftcard.news/company/paypal/) by 41.9%. Those figures describe the surveyed merchants’ acceptance choices.

A separate [Visa](https://giftcard.news/company/visa/) Acceptance report cited by Whop puts gift card or voucher acceptance among enterprise merchants at 32%. It reports that enterprise merchants accepted an average of five ecommerce payment methods, compared with 4.4 among mid-market businesses and 4.2 among small and medium-sized businesses. The enterprise figure therefore covers a different group from the Chargebacks911 survey.

The roundup also uses [Worldpay](https://giftcard.news/company/worldpay/)’s 2026 Global Payments Report to describe transaction values in 2025\. Whop reports that digital wallets accounted for 56% of ecommerce value, cards for 31% and account-to-account payments for 7% across the report’s covered markets. These are transaction-value shares, distinct from the percentage of merchants offering a method.

For businesses assessing payment providers, the article discusses interchange, card-network fees and processor markups as separate components of acceptance costs. It also cites payment success, revenue and payment costs as leading performance measures in the Visa Acceptance research, alongside authorisation, authentication, fraud and chargebacks.

On security, Whop reports a 72% use rate for payment tokenisation in the cited Visa Acceptance survey. It describes tokenisation as replacing sensitive payment details with a digital token and notes that merchants use it for security, authorisation performance and customer experience.

The wider roundup includes forecasts extending beyond the publication date. For example, it attributes a projection of 3.54 trillion global non-cash transactions by 2029 to [Capgemini](https://giftcard.news/company/capgemini/). That forecast is separate from the historical payment-method data reported for 2025.

Whop describes its own role as a payments partner providing acceptance infrastructure rather than a payment processor. The capabilities it lists include checkout links, embedded checkout, invoicing, Tap to Pay, multiple payment methods and payment routing. The article places those services alongside the compiled research on how merchants choose and operate payment acceptance.
