# Dairen adopts reloadable restaurant card for payments and staff benefits

[Dairen](https://giftcard.news/company/dairen/) has adopted a reloadable prepaid card that combines spending at its own restaurants with a proposed channel for employee benefits. [Valuedesign](https://giftcard.news/company/valuedesign/) announced the deployment on July 31, 2026, describing a restaurant group with three brands and four locations at the time. The Dairen Group Prepaid Card runs on Valuedesign's cloud-based Value Card service. Its balance can be spent at the group's own branded stores. The announcement identifies a rechargeable electronic-money function, establishing a merchant stored-value programme rather than simply a membership discount. [\[S1\]](#article-source-1)

## One card, two operating aims

For customer payments, Dairen's stated aim is to reduce the cost of accepting cashless transactions while encouraging repeat visits. Valuedesign says the proprietary payment service carries a lower fee rate than general-purpose methods such as credit cards, but the release provides no numerical rate, implementation cost or expected saving. The distinction matters when judging the economics. A lower processing rate is one component of operating a prepaid programme. The announcement does not quantify the costs of administering the card or any future promotions, so it does not establish a net reduction in Dairen's total payment costs.

The second use is employee welfare. Dairen plans to use the same service as part of its benefits provision, with retention and employee satisfaction among the intended outcomes. It has not disclosed an allowance amount, an eligibility schedule, the number of employees enrolled or how benefits will be funded. [\[S1\]](#article-source-1)

For staff, the practical value of such a benefit depends on those terms and on the ability to use it at participating restaurants. For the operator, the programme provides an internal spending channel as well as a consumer payment product. Neither the deployment nor the stated business rationale demonstrates that retention has already improved.

## A local restaurant business using shared infrastructure

Dairen is based in Yonago in Japan's Tottori prefecture. Its own website describes a business spanning restaurant operations and the manufacture and sale of noodles, with several dining brands. The technology provider, Valuedesign, operates within [Paycloud Holdings](https://giftcard.news/company/paycloud-holdings/) and supplies merchant-branded prepaid infrastructure. Dairen is adopting that existing service for its restaurant group; the July release is a named customer deployment, not the first launch of Value Card. [\[S1\]](#article-source-1)

Valuedesign also said Dairen planned campaigns offering benefits according to the amount loaded. No bonus schedule or start date was supplied, so customers cannot infer a specific extra balance from the announcement. The release does not specify card expiry, minimum loading amounts, refund rules or whether a balance can be transferred to another person. Those omissions limit what can be concluded about the customer proposition, particularly its use as a gift. The established change is a reloadable restaurant-group balance with an intended employee-benefit role, not a disclosed broad gift-card distribution agreement.
