Participating health plans will be able to send restricted-spend funds after members complete eligible activities, including annual examinations and preventive screenings. The company said members would access rewards through an email, text message or their health plan’s smartphone app. The approach is intended to shorten the delay between completing an activity and receiving funds, compared with waiting for a prepaid card to arrive by post. [InComm](https://giftcard.news/company/incomm-payments/) cited its survey of more than 500 Medicaid members, in which 56% preferred rewards delivered by email or text instead of a mailed physical card. [Joe Donato](https://giftcard.news/person/joe-donato/), the division’s senior vice president and general manager, said the new service was designed around that preference for quicker recognition and easier redemption. Spending will take place within InComm Healthcare’s OTC Network and remain subject to each plan’s eligibility rules. The company said its restricted-spend technology prevents purchases of excluded products such as alcohol, tobacco and firearms, while allowing approved food, over-the-counter medicines and wellness products. InComm also described potential operational benefits for plans, including closer tracking of distributed funds and the ability to reclaim unused rewards. It said digital delivery could reduce exposure to stolen physical cards.
