Photo: Source: Town & City Gift Cards / Miconex [Miconex](https://giftcard.news/company/miconex/) connected [GiftRound](https://giftcard.news/company/giftround/) group collections directly to local Town & City Gift Card pages in June 2026, linking pooled contributions with a digital card for participating businesses in a chosen place. The programme’s 12 June announcement described fee-free collection and digital redemption across more than 90 UK local-card programmes; Miconex detailed the integration on 15 June. [\[S01\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-1) [\[S02\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-2) ## Group budgets explain the opportunity, without measuring launch results The teacher-gifting announcement reported an average GiftRound collection of GBP 145, while the corporate announcement of 19 June reported GBP 136 for an office collection. These are two uses of the same group-collection mechanism. They provide context for local operators seeking a share of group-funded gifts, but the releases supply no sample sizes or measurement windows and do not identify those averages as sales of Town & City Gift Cards. [\[S01\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-1) [\[S04\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-4) The data behind the story ### GiftRound’s reported average collection values by occasion Platform averages disclosed in June 2026 launch coverage, measured per group collection. Reported average collection GBP Tap or hover for details. All values are also available in the data table. Sources Town & City Gift Cards teacher-gifting announcement, 12 June 2026; Town & City Gift Cards corporate announcement, 19 June 2026 GiftRound-reported averages, not medians, individual contributions or results of the Miconex integration. The announcements do not disclose observation windows, sample sizes or distributions; the values are descriptive and do not establish a statistically meaningful difference between occasions. Show data tableHide data table Scroll left or right to see all columns __GiftRound’s reported average collection values by occasion (GBP)__ | Category | Reported average collection | | ------------- | --------------------------- | | Teacher gifts | 145 GBP | | Office gifts | 136 GBP | Individual contributions are a different measure: the same sources report an average of GBP 10 for teacher gifts and GBP 12 for office collections. Dividing the collection averages by those contribution averages would not establish an actual average group size, so no recipient or contributor count is inferred. [\[S01\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-1) [\[S04\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-4) When a collection closes, the announced integration can send the digital local card to the organiser with a printable gift presentation, or directly to the recipient with contributors’ messages. Collections can also be split between gifts or recipients. GiftRound handles pooling; the selected Town & City Gift Card defines the local acceptance network. A merchant accepting one town’s card is not thereby an acceptor of every programme. [\[S01\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-1) [\[S02\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-2) GiftRound’s current general pricing page explains its ordinary FlexCard service as funded by retail partners rather than deductions from routine collections, and says it no longer offers bank-transfer payouts. Its full terms describe FlexCard exchange through Tillo, while a July founder case study from payment consultancy Tonkr separately confirms the branded collection model with Miconex and National Book Tokens. The general FlexCard catalogue and terms are therefore not used here to redefine the local card’s acceptance network. [\[S05\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-5) [\[S06\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-6) [\[S07\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-7) The no-fee message also has a specific scope. GiftRound’s terms restrict collections to gifts within private groups and permit a 10% administration deduction when returning contributions from certain prohibited public, charitable or campaign collections. That exception concerns misuse of the collection service; it is not described as an ordinary fee on the local-card integration announced in June. [\[S06\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-6) At launch, GiftRound reported more than 175,000 collections created and more than GBP 9 million in gift cards and vouchers ordered through its platform. Miconex separately reported more than GBP 24 million of local-card sales across its network in 2025\. Those cumulative platform figures and annual network sales use different scopes and periods, and neither measures uptake of the newly embedded journey. [\[S02\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-2) [\[S04\]](https://giftcard.news/rewards-loyalty/miconex-giftround-local-gift-card-group-collections/#article-source-4) The new distribution opportunity is a shorter route from choosing a place-specific card to collecting money for it. Teacher thank-you gifts, workplace departures and other shared occasions can use the same organising mechanism. The June sources do not disclose integration-specific collections, sales or incremental local spending, so the product mechanics and reported occasion averages establish context rather than a measured economic result.
