Its September 2023 guide connects recognition programme design with the currencies and redemption conditions of the products selected for recipients. The recognition examples include completing a sales or operational milestone, a workplace anniversary and peer acknowledgement of a contribution. Runa argues that an international programme needs to preserve the personal purpose of the reward while making it usable in the recipient's location. Currency is one part of that work. A programme buying in one currency and delivering value in another needs to account for the conversion rate and any relevant fees when deciding the amount an employee receives. The guide also recommends examining the individual card's restrictions. A well-known global brand does not establish that every gift card issued under that brand works in every country.
