[Yoyo Rewards](https://giftcard.news/company/yoyo-rewards/) sets out those requirements in guidance published on July 15, 2026. Yoyo describes card-linked loyalty as an arrangement in which a debit or credit card also identifies the customer's loyalty account, allowing qualifying payments to earn rewards without a separate card scan or app action. Its guidance cites [Rahul Jain](https://giftcard.news/person/rahul-jain/), founder and CEO of [Peach Payments](https://giftcard.news/company/peach-payments/), on using the approach to encourage repeat visits and increase customer lifetime value. The guidance distinguishes between card-linked loyalty and card-linked offers, noting that the latter is a single promotion tied to a payment card for a defined campaign. In contrast, card-linked loyalty is the underlying infrastructure that records every qualifying transaction, applies loyalty rules, and builds a customer profile over time. A card-linked offer can run on top of card-linked loyalty, which serves as the long-term loyalty infrastructure. ## POS tokens and loyalty transaction flows In the transaction flow described by Yoyo, the POS passes a tokenized card identifier, transaction amount, timestamp and store information to the loyalty platform. The platform matches the token to an account, applies the relevant earning rule and returns a confirmation. Yoyo says this processing needs to happen within milliseconds, making integration with the retailer's existing POS a central requirement.
