AKHA AMA Coffee Japan has introduced e-gifting through its online store, including a ¥1,500 ticket that recipients can use at three cafés. Its September 29 announcement adds a digital route to a store visit alongside gifts of coffee delivered to a recipient’s address. [S01]
The service issues a gift link after purchase. Buyers can pass that link through LINE, Instagram direct messages or email, removing the need to know a recipient’s postal address before sending a gift. For merchandise requiring delivery, the recipient supplies the address after opening the link. [S01]
A fixed-value ticket for an in-store purchase
The café ticket can be exchanged for products worth up to ¥1,500, including tax, at the company’s Kagurazaka, Waseda and Meguro locations. The product page instructs recipients to show the ticket screen when paying. If their purchase exceeds the ticket’s value, they pay the difference; the retailer gives no change on a smaller purchase. [S02]
Those terms make the ticket a defined redemption product, rather than a promise to send a particular bag of coffee. The recipient chooses what to buy at the café, while the purchaser sets the amount contributed toward the visit. The listed terms do not provide an expiry date, so the announcement does not establish a specific validity period. [S02]
The broader launch also includes a ¥3,800 gift that lets the recipient choose two coffee products. That option uses product selection and fulfilment, whereas the café ticket is redeemed in person against a stated yen amount. Treating the two options separately makes the role of digital gifting clearer: the same sending channel can support different ways of receiving value. [S01]

Different products and fulfilment models, not a like-for-like basket or a measure of savings. The JPY3,800 option buys two selected products, not JPY3,800 of general stored value. Listed prices do not establish current inventory, purchases or redemption outcomes.

For a small café network, a gift delivered by link connects an online purchase to a later store transaction. The announcement does not identify a technology provider, give adoption targets or report redemption results. Its concrete change is the new sending method and the three-store ticket offered through it.
