Diggecard and Ingenico announced on September 19, 2023 that Diggecard’s gift card services were available through Ingenico’s Payments Platform as a Service, or PPaaS. The announcement coincided with Paris Retail Week and the introduction of gift card services on the platform.
The integration supports physical and digital gift card operations at the point of sale, including issuance, redemption, balance information and expiry details. Digital cards can be distributed by SMS, email or QR code, with reporting available to merchants.
The companies said the arrangement was intended to make self-managed gift card services accessible through acquirers and other payment partners. Smaller merchants connected to PPaaS could use capabilities previously more readily available to larger retailers.
Diggecard co-founder Kristian Stølen said the partnership addressed the cost and integration challenges of serving small and medium businesses. Ingenico’s PPaaS general manager, Giulio Montemagno, said clients wanted to provide merchants with additional services through the platform.
The announcement identifies banks, acquirers, merchant service providers and software vendors among the partners serving those merchants. It also describes store credit or customer reimbursement as potential uses alongside conventional gift card sales.
