Edenred Payment Solutions launched a free, 10-week email course on developing gift-card programmes on September 17, 2024. The course was aimed at businesses starting a programme or improving an existing one, with weekly lessons designed to take less than 10 minutes to read. [S01] [S02]
The operating decisions behind a card
The curriculum covered the buyer journey, relationships with processors and distributors, fraud controls and cost optimisation. Edenred Payment Solutions said it developed the course with industry providers, a retailer and the Gift Card and Voucher Association. [S02]
The announcement offered practical education. It did not describe an accredited professional qualification, promise a financial result or remove the need for a business to assess its own operating arrangements. [S02]
Why the connections matter
A gift-card programme reaches across departments and suppliers. The purchase experience, funding, ledger, distribution and redemption may each have a different owner. Problems can arise at the boundaries even when each participant understands its own job.
Training organised around those connections can help a retailer ask better questions before selecting partners. Who handles a failed delivery? Who can investigate a balance dispute? How does the finance team reconcile a sale with the later spending of its value? These are operating questions, not just design choices.
The confirmed development was the release of a structured, supplier-led course. Its usefulness for an individual business depends on how well the material maps to that business’s programme, markets and responsibilities. The announcement did not supply completion figures or measured outcomes for participants.
