Hands Nagoya opened refunds on October 1, 2026 for unused Hands gift vouchers issued by Sanko Creative Life. The issuer’s notice sets December 31, 2026 as the deadline to bring the certificates to the store for a cash refund after inspection. [S01]

Refundable value depends on the certificate and its issuer

The official notice identifies JPY 500 and JPY 1,000 certificates. Each eligible unused voucher is exchanged for its printed face value, so the two denominations return JPY 500 and JPY 1,000 respectively. The accompanying examples expressly exclude certificates issued by Tokyu Hands or Hands itself; a shared retail brand does not establish the same refund liability. [S01][S03]

The July 1 notice had already set September 30 as the last day for spending these vouchers and said a refund process would follow. The October notice implements that process under Article 20(1) of Japan’s Payment Services Act. It warns that holders who do not apply within the stated period are excluded from this refund procedure. [S01][S02]

That procedural deadline should not be described as automatically extinguishing every underlying claim. The Kanto Local Finance Bureau’s guidance distinguishes exclusion from the statutory refund procedure from the holder’s private-law claim against the issuer, which the exclusion does not itself eliminate. The guidance also distinguishes stopping new issuance alone from ending both issuance and use. [S04]

Hands Nagoya’s separate store-closure notice gives January 11, 2027 as the last trading day. That later retail closure does not extend the December 31 voucher-refund deadline. Local outlet NAGOYAJIN also distinguishes the October–December refund period from the store closure in its coverage. The notices provide no totals for outstanding certificates, applications received or cash already refunded. [S01][S05][S06]
