JR West is adding car-share vouchers to its WESTER points redemption options through a partnership with JR West Rent-A-Car & Lease and Times Mobility. The companies announced the service on September 17, with exchanges beginning October 1. [S01]
Members can exchange 500 to 5,000 points for electronic vouchers carrying the same value in yen. The vouchers apply to usage charges for Eki Rent-a-Car smart west, making that service the designated redemption destination. Points earned through rail travel or shopping can therefore offset a subsequent car-share bill.

The change adds a redemption route to an existing relationship. The partners began their rail-and-car-share collaboration in 2013. JR West Rent-A-Car & Lease introduced smart west in December 2023 using Times Mobility's platform, while a separate benefit introduced in April 2024 awards WESTER points for eligible same-day rail and car-share use.
For the loyalty program, the new electronic voucher connects an accumulated points balance to a specific transport service at a stated one-point-to-one-yen exchange value. The announcement does not set out voucher expiry or transferability rules.
The partners also issued a dated joint release [S02] describing the same exchange route.
