La Orotava opened purchases of its subsidized local-spending vouchers on September 9, with 57 businesses participating, according to the municipality. Its dated agenda confirms vouchers were available that day, following earlier programme announcements in July and August.

Each voucher carries EUR20 of spending value for a EUR10 purchase payment, with the municipality funding the remaining EUR10. The instruments work as a wallet balance that can be used across different transactions until the balance is consumed, rather than simply reducing a product's ticket price by a percentage.

The limit is ten vouchers per identity number: EUR100 paid by the buyer produces EUR200 of spending balance. The council announced 26,500 vouchers and EUR265,000 of subsidy, supporting a maximum EUR530,000 in voucher value if the allocation is sold. This describes purchasing capacity rather than a measured increase in sales.

The programme is operated with FAUCA, the Canary Islands urban-business federation. Vouchers are delivered through the programme platform and email after purchase. The municipality sets December 31, 2026 as the use deadline. Unspent value is not reimbursable in cash.

Gift-card purchases, internet purchase codes and several other categories are excluded from redemption. The stated participating-business count concerns this programme; it is not a nationwide acceptance claim.

The new event is the opening of actual voucher purchases and local acceptance. Authorized issuance and the municipal subsidy do not demonstrate completed sales, merchant revenue or redeemed value.
