Member Access Processing launched Visa prepaid virtual cards for credit unions on October 21, 2021, giving members digital payment credentials without a corresponding plastic card. MAP presented the product as a way to make prepaid funds available for online purchases from a computer or mobile phone.

The virtual card contains the cardholder's name, an expiry date and a card verification value, or CVV. A member enters the Visa account details when paying online. MAP also supplies online account access so cardholders can view their account and transaction information in real time.

MAP said the virtual card could be accessed from more than one device and was supported by Visa's fraud technology. For
