Starbucks Japan began selling its Pokémon collaboration on September 30, 2026, following a September 24 announcement. The launch spans physical Starbucks Cards, packaged online gift sets, digitally delivered card balances and eGift tickets. Those formats carry different payment and redemption terms despite sharing the licensed characters. [S01]
The entry price and spendable balance differ by format
The three store cards, Coffee Connection, Pikachu and Eevee, require a minimum initial load of JPY 2,000. The six online gift sets cost JPY 2,700 including tax, with JPY 2,000 loaded on the card and a paper-cup-shaped memo pad. The minimum digital card load is JPY 1,000. The chart compares these stated entry points, rather than implying that every buyer loads the same amount. [S01][S03][S04]

The store and digital columns use the minimum permitted initial load; they are not the only available load amounts. The online set is a fixed JPY 2,700 product with JPY 2,000 loaded and a paper-cup memo pad. Its JPY 700 difference covers the bundle beyond the card balance; no allocation to a processing fee is disclosed. Online shipping is excluded.

| Category | Payment at the stated entry point | Initial spendable card balance |
|---|---|---|
| Store card: minimum load | 2,000 JPY | 2,000 JPY |
| Online card and memo gift set | 2,700 JPY | 2,000 JPY |
| Digital card: minimum load | 1,000 JPY | 1,000 JPY |
For the online set, JPY 700 of the advertised product price is above the spendable card balance. The announcement does not divide that amount into a memo-pad price, licence charge or processing fee, so it should be treated as part of the packaged gift price. The Pikachu product listing separately confirms the JPY 2,700 price and JPY 2,000 loaded balance; shipping is not included in this comparison. [S03]
Digital Starbucks Card Gift offers six designs and permits loads from JPY 1,000 to JPY 30,000 through the Starbucks app and dedicated digital card website. Starbucks’ original campaign page describes email and social delivery, including LINE, and says that registering these digital collaboration cards online enables an animation on the app payment screen. That statement appears in the digital-card section and is not evidence that every physical card has the same animation. [S01][S02]
The eGift range also has six Pokémon designs, covering drink, food and coffee-bean tickets. These are ticket gifts, distinct from the rechargeable card balance shown in the chart. The announcement schedules the Pokémon artwork on presented eGift tickets through November 30, 2026. This is a display date, not a stated expiry date for the gift value. [S01]
Physical cards and online gift sets were announced as available while supplies lasted. Product pages and the September 24 Game Watch report separately document the card and gift-set terms, but they do not establish current stock, sales volumes or recipient usage. The commercial distinction is between the amount paid for a packaged present and the amount its recipient can spend, alongside the separate delivery mechanics of digital cards and tickets.
