Runa has described six uses for embedded payout functionality in HR and human capital management software. The January 2023 guide looks beyond recognition awards to other situations in which an employer distributes value to employees.
The first is expense management. Runa discusses using prepaid cards or a Payout Link for reimbursement within the HR platform, allowing the recipient to receive the value through the available reward options.
Team celebrations are another use. Restaurant gift cards can support an in-person lunch, while food-delivery cards can be used for a virtual gathering. Setting the reward value provides a defined budget for the activity.
Learning and development budgets are also included. The guide describes advance payouts or reimbursements as ways to administer education-related spending from the platform that staff already use.
Employee referral incentives and sales rewards form two further categories. A payout connection can sit alongside onboarding or performance processes, allowing the programme to distribute the agreed reward without a separate fulfilment workflow.
For wellbeing programmes, Runa suggests gym memberships and fitness gift cards as possible products. This is a reward distribution use case, rather than evidence that the API itself produces a health outcome.
The guide connects the six examples through one underlying function: distributing value from within an existing HR system. It presents gift cards, prepaid cards and recipient choice as ways the same integration could support different employer programmes.
