Runa has described how HR software providers can expand their reward offering through an API integration. Its January 2023 guide focuses on human capital management and employee rewards platforms serving customers with different industries, workforce sizes and locations.

The company argues that a broader catalogue can help a platform accommodate changing customer needs, particularly when an employer enters another country or adds staff using a different currency or language. That makes geographical and product coverage part of the platform's own service planning.

The catalogue described in the guide included digital gift cards from more than 1,300 brands, with coverage stated as 18 currencies, 30 countries and 64 languages. It also listed charitable donations, subscriptions and Visa prepaid cards among the options a programme could offer.

For donations, Runa cited access to more than 1.8 million US charities. Subscriptions were presented as another category that could provide continuing use, while prepaid cards offered a different spending format from a retailer-specific gift card.

The API functions discussed included choosing payout types and denominations, adding personal messages and sending rewards to multiple recipients. The provider positioned the integration as a way to keep those activities within the customer's existing HR software environment.

The guide promotes catalogue breadth and embedded fulfilment as possible supports for a platform's growth. It does not establish risk-free revenue or guaranteed customer retention; its operational proposal is to extend the reward choices an HR product can make available through one supplier connection.
