The balance describes an obligation associated with outstanding stored value. It is not the amount of new cards sold in the quarter or a measure of gift-card redemption revenue. A higher outstanding balance alone cannot establish whether issuance increased, redemption slowed or another accounting movement contributed.

The comparison uses the corresponding prior-year reporting date, rather than treating the two amounts as sequential monthly observations. The figures are reported in thousands of US dollars and converted here to millions.

The issuer's September 10 quarterly filing repeats the current balance, but the original published results already contained the gift-card line on September 9.

The disclosure provides a specific view of the apparel retailer's outstanding gift value. It does not disclose a physical-versus-digital split, the number of recipients, a change to card terms or a separately quantified breakage result.
