Instacart gift card volume on Fluz grew 126% from 2024 to 2025, according to a case study published by Fluz on September 2, 2026. The platform described more than 17 campaigns since January 2024, organised around seasonal shopping occasions and its group cashback format. [S01]

Repeat campaigns and a changing buyer mix

Fluz said its Instacart campaigns used a cashback rate that increased as more members committed. The company also reported a change in the composition of fall buyers: first-time Instacart purchasers on Fluz increased from 34% in 2024 to 45% in 2025. Buyers returning after at least six months rose from 6% to 12%. [S01]

These categories answer an acquisition question at the distribution-channel level. Someone buying an Instacart card through Fluz for the first time may already use Instacart elsewhere. The figures cannot establish customer acquisition for the retailer without connecting the purchase to the recipient’s wider history.

What a gift card campaign can demonstrate

A seasonal offer can draw attention to a prepaid product at a moment when customers already expect to spend. Repeating the campaign also gives the operator a way to examine whether subsequent buyers are new to that channel, returning after an absence or already frequent purchasers.

That makes cohort definitions as important as the headline growth rate. A rising share of first-time channel buyers describes the mix of participants. It does not, on its own, show the number of additional customers, their later spending or the profit attributable to the campaign.

Evidence and boundaries

The case study provides no absolute sales totals or buyer counts. Its growth and cohort figures are company-reported results, without a published control group. [S01] The full-year volume comparison and the fall buyer shares cover different measurement windows and should not be combined into a single performance calculation.

For brands and rewards distributors, the useful takeaway is to connect campaign reporting to a clearly defined commercial objective. Card sales, recipient use, channel acquisition and retailer acquisition are related stages, but each calls for a different measure. The Fluz figures describe activity within its own channel.
