Negative payout experiences would make 70% of independent workers consider quitting or rethink their work arrangement, according to research announced by Runa on April 29, 2025. The Decoding Payouts study reports respondents’ stated reactions to payment problems rather than observed departures from a particular platform.
The company said respondents wanted timely, predictable payments and more payout choices. Options discussed include digital wallets such as PayPal, Venmo and Zelle, push-to-card or debit-card payments using services such as Visa Direct, bank transfers and gift cards.
