Hospitality venues using Toggle sold more than 105,000 gift cards with a combined value above £5.6 million in September, the company reported on October 6. It also recorded more than 80,000 card redemptions worth over £4.1 million during the month. [S01]

The two measures show different stages of the gift-card cycle: money committed to future visits and prepaid balances used at venues. They describe activity through Toggle’s platform, rather than revenue earned by the software provider. The company did not publish its own fees or income alongside the totals.

Sales and redemption volumes measure different activity

Toggle began in 2018 alongside sister company Airship. Its product lets hospitality operators run their own online gift-card and experience shops, with connections to venue systems used when a customer spends a balance. This places it between the initial gifting purchase and the later visit. [S02]

Toggle’s September update provides absolute figures but no comparable September 2025 total or like-for-like venue series. It therefore establishes the scale reported for one month, without demonstrating a year-on-year growth rate or separating changes at existing venues from the contribution of newly added customers. [S01]

The sales and redemption counts also should not be divided to produce a redemption rate. Cards spent in September can have been sold in earlier periods, while a newly purchased balance may be used later. The update does not provide issuance-cohort data linking each sale to its subsequent use.

For hospitality businesses, that distinction is commercially useful. Selling a card brings forward the customer’s commitment; redemption is the point at which the venue must deliver the meal, stay or experience covered by the balance. Strong sales and strong redemption can both matter, but they place different demands on operations and do not by themselves reveal margin or unredeemed liabilities.
