TopCashback sold more than £6 million in gift cards after beginning work with Runa in November 2021, according to a supplier case study published through Runa’s blog on March 2, 2023. The account also reports a day with more than 19,000 gift cards sold. [S01] [S02]
Broader choice, with visibility after sending
TopCashback wanted a larger selection than its previous gift-card partner offered. Runa’s catalog contained more than 1,300 brands, and its reporting showed unclaimed rewards. The study says TopCashback extended the gift-card offering to the US six months after the partnership began. [S02]
| Measure | Supplier-reported result |
|---|---|
| Sales since November 2021 | More than £6 million |
| Sales growth in first three months | 300% |
| Peak daily card volume | More than 19,000 |
Sales volume is not profit
The source does not define the growth baseline or provide an absolute profit figure. Although its headline describes a record profit day, the quantified evidence concerns sales and card counts. Those measures cannot establish margin or net income. [S02]
For cashback operators, the relevant design choice sits between earning a reward and deciding where to spend it. A recipient may value flexibility at that point, but catalog breadth by itself does not measure satisfaction. The useful operational evidence would connect selection, claim and redemption without treating those stages as interchangeable.
The reported peak day also raises a different question from long-term growth: how well can the system handle a concentrated burst of demand? A record card count says something about throughput. It does not show whether the same level of activity continued, what customers spent on each card, or how much commercial value the operator retained.
The case is a documented example of expanding a reward proposition through an external distribution platform. Its headline totals are meaningful within that customer account, with the limits of supplier-reported evidence kept in view.
