Visa's Stay Secure study in Kuwait found that 86% of surveyed consumers had used AI tools during shopping. Finding gift ideas accounted for 51%, behind price comparisons at 55% and ahead of checking reviews or ratings at 46%.
Released on June 9, 2026, the Wakefield Research study showed widespread enthusiasm for assistance but more caution over payments. While 94% thought AI made shopping easier and faster, 23% trusted AI agents to complete checkout.
Seventy-eight percent had purchased through social platforms. Forty percent reported experiencing a financial scam in the previous 12 months; among scam victims, 45% said the incident involved social media. The findings linked expanding shopping channels with continuing security concerns.
Respondents expected banks and payment institutions to help protect them. Fifty-three percent wanted real-time warnings about suspicious activity, while 84% believed AI would have an important future role in fraud prevention. Visa described security as central to consumer confidence in emerging shopping services.
