Buñol Town Council has announced a new local commerce-card campaign with 940 cards carrying EUR100 each, funded equally by purchasers and the municipality. The programme was first announced on September 24, when merchant enrolment opened, with the card allocation and sales arrangements detailed on September 28. [S01] [S02]

Buyers would pay EUR50 for a card containing EUR100 to spend at participating local businesses. The announced redemption period runs from October 5 to October 31. Sales were scheduled at Caixa Popular on October 5 and 6. These are the operating dates set out in the announcement, rather than confirmed sales results. [S02]

Funding a local spending balance through ACYEB

The council says it signed a EUR50,000 agreement with the Asociación de Comerciantes y Empresarios de Buñol, identified as ACYEB, to manage the municipal contribution. The communications also name BUINSA as a programme collaborator. [S02]

The programme splits each card’s EUR100 balance into two equal contributions: EUR50 from its purchaser and EUR50 from the municipality. The subsidy is therefore half of the loaded value, while the balance is twice the purchaser’s payment. These are the announced terms of the product. [S03]

The 940 planned cards represent EUR94,000 in face value if all are issued. At EUR50 per card, the stated municipal top-up would total EUR47,000. The broader EUR50,000 agreement should therefore not be described as the value loaded onto cards. The published notices do not explain the allocation of the difference.

This funding is directed into a defined local acceptance network, rather than a general-purpose payment balance. The September 24 notice opened applications for eligible merchants through September 30, requiring identification, tax-registration and payment-terminal information. That onboarding stage preceded the scheduled customer sale and redemption window. [S01]

The municipal broadcaster identifies Caixa Popular as the location for card sales. The reviewed announcements do not separately identify the legal issuer, processing provider, card fees or settlement timetable, so the sales role should not be treated as proof of every underlying payment role. No completed sale count, merchant-network total or redeemed value was reported. The confirmed development is the announced campaign and its prepaid funding structure, ahead of the October distribution period.
