Buyatab reported five-year revenue growth of 4,626% in its September 13, 2018 announcement about the Growth 500 ranking. It placed 13th on the Canadian Business list and said it was Vancouver's fastest-growing software company for a third consecutive year.

The ranking measured revenue growth over five years. Buyatab's figure therefore describes a multi-year company revenue comparison, rather than annual growth or the number of gift cards sold.

The company referenced second place in the national growth ranking in 2017 and third place in 2016. It also noted its Growth Company of the Year recognition at the 2018 BC Technology Impact Awards.

Buyatab supplied gift card ecommerce infrastructure for merchants, enabling purchases through a retailer's online properties and delivery by email or text message. It described mobile-wallet compatibility and clients in the United States, Canada and Europe.

Chief executive Matias Marquez attributed the growth to the company's technology, staff and merchant relationships. The announcement reported the ranking and historical growth rate without publishing an absolute revenue figure or forecasting a subsequent sales result.
