Buyatab and Purdys Chocolatier announced an online gift card program on December 3, 2018. The arrangement added digital purchasing to Purdys' gift card offering through the retailer's own website.

Customers in the United States and Canada could select a card design and schedule delivery. Buyatab supplied the branded purchasing experience, while Purdys retained the customer-facing storefront.

Purdys ecommerce director Amanda Dhalla said the service would let customers arrange chocolate gifts online. Buyatab chief executive Matias Marquez said the purchase experience was designed to reflect the retailer's brand and heritage.

Purdys was founded in Vancouver in 1907. The announcement described more than 85 Canadian shops and online chocolate shipping to Canada, the United States and selected other countries. Purdys also described its production as using sustainable cocoa.

Buyatab's wider platform provided merchant gift card ecommerce and delivery by email or text, with mobile-wallet compatibility described at platform level. The Purdys announcement established the purchasing and delivery partnership without reporting gift card sales results from the launch.
