Factor4 has integrated its gift card and loyalty technology with MyPOS Connect through a partnership with Tri-City Retail Systems. Announced on September 8, the connection gives retailers tools to sell physical and digital gift cards, check balances and accept redemptions, including online redemption, within their retail operations.

MyPOS Connect is a cloud-based point-of-sale platform for specialty retailers. Tri-City Retail Systems is its exclusive distributor in North America, and says it has worked with more than 1,000 specialty retailers. Its customer base spans independent stores through businesses with hundreds of locations.

The integration brings gift card functions into a platform that already manages inventory, purchasing, customer engagement, reporting and sales across stores and online channels. MyPOS Connect can also connect to ecommerce services and other third-party applications.

For a retailer evaluating the connection, the announced scope covers both forms of gift card and the main transaction stages: selling a card, checking the value remaining on it and redeeming that value. Factor4 says the connection is intended to keep the customer experience consistent between physical locations and digital shopping.

Factor4 CEO Dan Battista said the partnership extends the company’s technology to a network of specialty retailers. Michael Steg, managing director of Tri-City Retail Systems, said support for both store and online use was central to the choice of a gift card solution for MyPOS Connect customers.

Factor4 supplies gift card and loyalty services for merchants. Its RewardOS API connects those services to point-of-sale systems, ecommerce websites, payment terminals, tablets and other platforms. The companies describe the new integration as a way to support customer engagement and repeat purchasing; those commercial benefits are their stated objectives.
