Kohl’s is adding Babies R Us shopping areas to 56 more stores this month and expanding baby gifting products across its store network in the fall. The retailer’s September announcement includes an exclusive range of coordinated bibs, blankets and crib sheets, along with more gift choices below $25.
New products include Millie Moon diapers, Hallmark gift sets, seasonal stroller toys and books. The expansion builds on a partnership launched in 2024 at roughly 200 Kohl’s stores.
California accounts for 25 of the additional Babies R Us spaces and Texas for 20. Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania will also receive new locations.
The expansion comes as the retailer’s Sephora concessions have reported weaker sales. Retail Dive reported a 4% decline for Sephora at Kohl’s in the second quarter, following a low-single-digit decrease in the first quarter. Fitch Ratings research cited in the report puts the concessions’ contribution at about 10% of Kohl’s revenue.
Store-visit trends have also remained negative overall, although the decline has narrowed. According to Placer.ai figures reported by Retail Dive, visits fell 7.7% in the first quarter and 1.4% in the second.
Same-store visits increased in June and July, marking the first consecutive monthly gains in around two years. The baby assortment expansion adds another category to the retailer’s effort to attract shoppers during that recovery in traffic.
