Oita Air Terminal has launched a digital shopping-voucher programme that adds JPY1,000 of spending value to each JPY5,000 purchase. The resulting JPY6,000 balance can be used at 11 participating businesses inside Oita Airport, including restaurants, souvenir shops and convenience stores. [S1]

The Oita Airport Pay programme began on September 1, 2026 and runs through November 30. Giftee disclosed the implementation on September 15, saying it supplied its e-machi Platform in cooperation with regional partner Oita Plat. The launch marks the airport terminal company's 70th anniversary. [S1]

A defined premium and a capped issue

The published terms allow any buyer to purchase up to two units. At the maximum, a customer pays JPY10,000 for JPY12,000 of airport spending value. The stated 20% premium is measured against the purchase price: JPY1,000 added to each JPY5,000 paid. [S1]

Giftee reports a total face value of JPY12 million for the issue. That is the programme's stated issuance scale, rather than a report that JPY12 million has already been sold or redeemed. The release does not provide purchase or usage results.

The airport operator says the programme is intended to thank local residents and travellers and contribute to regional activity. The extra spending value creates an incentive to use participating airport businesses, but neither the premium nor the issuance amount demonstrates additional footfall or spending generated by the scheme. [S1]

One portal and its airport acceptance network

Buyers register through the Oita Plat Ticket Portal and can pay by credit card. Purchased value appears immediately in their account, where the same portal supports access, storage and use of the voucher. The published sales and usage period ends on November 30. [S1]

At checkout, the customer scans a QR code displayed by the shop, enters the amount and shows the completed-payment screen to staff. The balance can be spent in one-yen increments. This is a merchant-displayed QR process, rather than a requirement for each shop to scan a customer's physical gift card.

Giftee says the system marks the redeemed amount as used when payment completes. It also provides a web page through which each merchant can check its usage records. The company presents this as a replacement for the receipt, endorsement, counting, storage and claim-processing tasks associated with paper vouchers. Those are stated operating features and benefits, rather than independently measured reductions in staff time. [S1]

The airport operator’s map identifies five food-and-drink locations, four retail locations and two other-service locations. These are the issuer’s own categories, counted from the eleven marked participants across the terminal floors and international departures. The map establishes listed acceptance coverage, not a live audit of opening hours or evidence of how much each category redeemed. [S02] [S03]

The official acceptance map defines the scope of this airport deployment. It does not establish a wider regional rollout or measure transactions at any participating location. [S03]

The participants have different roles: Oita Air Terminal runs the anniversary programme, Oita Plat provides the regional portal relationship, and Giftee supplies the underlying digital-voucher platform. The portal is designed to bring multiple regional electronic-voucher programmes into a single place for users to manage them. [S1]

The companies say they intend to use the platform for further voucher programmes in Oita Prefecture. The confirmed deployment in this announcement is the airport scheme, with its named acceptance network, 20% premium and September-to-November usage period. No merchant fee schedule or supplier contract value was disclosed.
