Runa announced Runa Prepaid Cards on February 12, 2026, adding branded prepaid payout options to its platform. The company said businesses could customise card artwork, logos, colours and messaging and use embedded payout links within their own customer experience.

The offering included Runa Reward Prepaid for a fixed, one-time balance and Runa Reload Prepaid for recurring funding. Runa said reloadable recipients could retain the same virtual card for later payments without registering again.

The company described delivery through a secure URL and compatibility with digital wallets. It positioned the cards for rewards, rebates, promotions, benefits and other disbursements.

Runa said customers could access prepaid cards through the same API or portal used for its gift card and push-to-card services. Its announcement described the wider gift card catalogue as covering more than 5,000 merchants across 50 countries at that time.

Custom branding and recipient experience were the central additions in the launch. Runa also proposed uses in employee recognition, gig-work payouts and claims payments, but did not name a new client deployment or disclose transaction volumes for the prepaid product.

The company promoted the cards as a flexible payout alternative. Its announcement did not provide a detailed fee comparison or measured evidence for the claimed cost advantages over other payment methods.
