Transact Pro began issuing Mastercard gift cards for Sāga shopping centre on September 18, 2024. The programme offered values from €10 to €150 and allowed recipients to spend the balance in parts at participating merchants within the centre. [S01]
Selling cards without an information desk
The project used a commercial partner to sell cards because Sāga did not operate a traditional information centre. Artūrs Žogots, identified as Transact Pro’s business development department manager, described this as a first for the company’s cooperation projects. [S01]
| Card feature | Announced programme terms |
|---|---|
| Value | €10 to €150 |
| Acceptance | Participating Sāga merchants |
| Partial spending | Permitted |
| Cash withdrawal | Not permitted |
| Reloading | Not permitted |
Despite the Mastercard brand, the announced acceptance was limited to the participating Sāga merchants. The product was not described as an unrestricted card for general spending. [S01]
The distribution point is part of the product
A shopping-centre card needs more than a payment connection. Customers need somewhere to buy it, understand its terms and find out where it works. Replacing the information desk changes that distribution arrangement, even when the redemption process remains familiar to the merchant.
The announcement presented lower operating costs and stronger loyalty as expected benefits. It did not publish evidence measuring either outcome. The verified development is the programme and its sales arrangement, with commercial performance left to subsequent reporting.
The terms above describe the September 2024 launch. A payment-network logo should always be read alongside the programme’s actual acceptance and usage rules.
