Cryptorefills announced on June 1, 2026 that it would serve as a media sponsor of European Blockchain Convention 12 in Barcelona. The cryptocurrency-funded gift-card provider tied the role to coverage of payment infrastructure at the September 16 and 17 event. [S01]
The agreement brings a retail spending business into a conference aimed heavily at digital-asset finance. For Cryptorefills, the relevant audience includes businesses controlling wallets, payment connections and routes to consumers who already hold cryptocurrency.
A retailer-facing business in a financial ecosystem
Cryptorefills has operated since 2018 and is run by Amsterdam-based Big Dream Ventures B.V. Its business connects cryptocurrency payments with digital purchases, including merchant gift cards. The customer acquires spendable retail value without requiring the chosen retailer's checkout to accept that cryptocurrency directly. [S03]
That intermediary position makes distribution relationships valuable. A wallet may hold the customer's funds and attention, while a gift-card supplier provides the product. Cryptorefills needs both ends of the transaction to work, giving it a practical interest in relationships beyond its own storefront.
The company's current brand proposition offers either an API connection or managed gift-card inventory. It advertises no listing or setup fee and describes revenue sharing at redemption, with settlement options that include conventional currencies. These present-day commercial terms help explain its model; they are not disclosed terms of the convention sponsorship. [S04]
What the media role offers
The sponsorship announcement links conference coverage to Cryptorefills' own commerce service and says its reporting would include panel summaries and speaker conversations. It also promotes gift cards as a way for visitors to spend cryptocurrency during their trip. [S01]
The organiser confirms the 2026 dates and the Palau de Congressos de Catalunya venue. Its programme brings banks, exchanges, investors and infrastructure providers together through presentations and meeting formats. That is a potential partner audience, although an event programme is not proof that any participant bought from or signed with a sponsor. [S02]
The commercial logic is twofold. Publishing coverage can put the company's name in front of people following payment infrastructure. Attending an industry gathering can also create conversations with potential distribution partners. Those are plausible advantages of the arrangement, rather than measured outcomes reported by the parties.
For the convention, a media partner supplies another route for its programme to reach an audience outside the venue. The value of that exposure is distinct from the revenue the organiser may earn from tickets or other sponsorship packages.
Visibility still has to become business
Neither party disclosed the sponsorship's price or any exchange of services. The announcement also did not establish a joint gift-card product or a new acceptance agreement.
For a card distributor, visibility only becomes commercially useful when it leads to a customer purchase, a brand listing or a workable distribution relationship. The sponsorship gives Cryptorefills an opportunity to make that case in a setting focused on digital assets; the public evidence does not yet attach a sales result to it.
