Bitrefill announced that its account balance would be renamed Store Credit from July 8, 2025. The company said the change was intended to make the nature of the prepaid value clearer, with no change to how existing funds worked.

The announcement, published on July 7, explains that Store Credit can be used to purchase products on Bitrefill, including gift cards, eSIMs and mobile top-ups. It cannot be withdrawn or transferred to another destination. Bitrefill said those restrictions already applied before the terminology update.

The new label replaces Bitrefill Balance in the account dashboard, checkout and receipts. Buttons and transaction screens use Add Credit in place of Top-up, while references to a wallet or cash balance are also being updated in help material and interface copy.

Bitrefill said terms such as wallet and balance can carry different meanings, particularly for cryptocurrency users who may associate a wallet with a crypto address or custodial account. Store Credit is intended to describe value held for purchases within the service more directly.

Customers can continue adding credit and spending it at checkout through the existing process. Refunds for cancelled orders still return to Store Credit, and balances already held in accounts remain available. The company said users did not need to take action in response to the name change.
