Giftbit has outlined its use of Marqeta’s card-issuing platform for prepaid Visa rewards in a partner update published on March 4, 2025. The company said the arrangement addressed operational constraints it had encountered with earlier issuing systems.

Those constraints included lengthy due-diligence processes, minimum purchase requirements, exclusivity and complex pricing. Giftbit said the Marqeta relationship enabled onboarding through a business-verification process without the same purchase minimums or exclusivity requirements.

The update also described tools for cardholder support. Giftbit’s customer-success team uses Marqeta’s APIs and dashboard, while recipients can view their own balances and transaction history through a site hosted by Giftbit.

Giftbit said just-in-time funding changed when it needed to provide money for rewards. Under that model, it funds the card when the recipient spends, rather than putting the full amount in place when the card is issued. The company presented that timing change as an improvement to its cash-flow management.
